Batakiai — „friendship capital“

17/09/2010

The beginnig of July is especial time for evangelical lutheran parish in Batakiai — a small town in the west of Lithuania. It is a time when churchyard fills with children voices, tents, activities, etc. This year 11th time children summer camp took place in Batakiai.

There came about 120 children and youth and all of them had an opportunity to find activity according to their skills. They could organise and participate in discussion groups, sports contest, evening events, to take care of entertaining music or play their music to other campers and it is not nearly the end of activity list. And of course while organising all the works in a camp, it was nice to watch how elder campers take care of the younger ones.

The main essence of the camp is not only having funny holiday, much more important purpose is to enschrine Christian values. This year the main topic of the camp was „Let us become friends“ and the main attention was imposed to learn how to solve social problems such as sneering and violence among children.

Alongside sharing friendship, all participants were being taught about community with God, Church. Children actively participated in worship, lessons, discussions. Deacon Karolis Skausmenis gave the most serious attention to work with the confirmee group.

In the farewell service parents and guests had an ability to watch a concerts prepared by little campers and to listen how pastor Mindaugas Dikšaitis finds a warm word to thank for everyone who had put an effort that camping time was significant, well-organised and good-looking.
