LCMS Representatives Meet with Lithuanian and Belarusian Pastors“Ten years ago the Lithuanian Evangelical Lutheran Church and the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod entered into full pulpit and altar fellowship and this fellowship has already proved very fruitful in many areas of our church life,” stated Bishop Mindaugas Sabutis in a Vilnius meeting with Rev. Dr. Albert Collver, director of the Lutheran Church–Missouri Synod (LCMS) church relations and special assistant to LCMS President Matthew Harrison who officially visited the Lithuanian church on behalf of President Harrison. Included also in the visit on December 3, 2011 was a seminar with Lithuanian and Belarusian pastors. |

Youth service and stay in KretingaEvangelical lutheran church of Kretinga was full of young people on the sunny May 22nd morning. Youth from Klaipėda, Tauragė, Batakiai, Jurbarkas, Šilalė parishes gathered together to the youth service. After greeting with long-lost friends, all of them met in the church where Rev. dr. Darius Petkūnas and Rev. Jonas Liorančas said a service. |
Ph.D. Diploma given to Rev. Valdas AusraValdas Ausra – pastor of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, located in Oak Lawn (a southern Chicago suburb). He has been the pastor of this parish since 2001. The Lithuanian Lutheran parish is small, but wide-spread throughout the Chicagoland area. Here everyone is always welcome with love and warmth. The church is also a place that houses the “Spindulelis” day care center, a ping-pong club, a German club, as well as, a place that welcomes people looking to figure out the secrets of the Bible. The church is also a meeting place for the Lithuanian Association for Psychological and Spiritual Support. |
Batakiai — „friendship capital“The beginnig of July is especial time for evangelical lutheran parish in Batakiai — a small town in the west of Lithuania. It is a time when churchyard fills with children voices, tents, activities, etc. This year 11th time children summer camp took place in Batakiai. |
Visit of Deaconess Grace RaoGrace Rao, deaconess of Lutheran Church Missouri Synod Human Care & World Relief, has been on an eight-day visit to Lithuania (27 April to 4 May). The main objective of her visit was to gather first-hand information about the Lithuanian Lutheran Church and social work carried out by the Church. Dcs. Grace Rao was especially interested in projects run by the Church aimed at helping women and children. |
